USDM DOT Standards for safety call for amber side markers as the orange color is more visible in longer range and since road speeds are faster and reaction times slower, maximum visibility is mandated by the law. The 5MPH bumpers are an additional precautionary measure to stop a rolling car within 5mph speeds since most drivers do not use the e brake to park a car, the transmission lock(park) often times misses causing a parked car to roll. The Red Turn Signals are also for safety as a blinking red light visibly catches attention and associates the rear of the car, the red and amber coloration of the blinkers make it easier for american standards to distinguish front and rear of the vehicle ahead. Bumper side markers make the vehicle visible from the side at night in the dark or fog.
